BIOTECanada was pleased to be a part of the Canadian delegation attending BIX 2026 in Seoul, where Canada was named the official Country of Honour.

During the visit, BIOTECanada President & CEO, Wendy Zatylny signed a Memorandum of Understanding with KoreaBIO to support closer collaboration between the Canadian and Korean biotechnology and life sciences sectors.

The agreement will support opportunities for co-investment, co-development, business partnering, networking and stronger connections between Canadian and Korean biotechnology companies.

“With $25 billion in bilateral merchandise trade in 2025 and more than a decade of free trade between our countries, Canada and Korea already have a strong economic foundation to build on,” said Zatylny. “This MOU creates a practical pathway to deepen that relationship in biotechnology and life sciences by bringing our companies together around investment, co-development, technology partnerships, and new market opportunities.”

Canada’s participation as Country of Honour at BIX 2026 provided an important platform to showcase the strength of Canada’s biotechnology and life sciences sector and deepen relationships with Korean companies, investors and industry organizations. The Canadian delegation included 25 companies and organizations, with Canadian leaders contributing to several BIX sessions, including a panel focused on AI in drug discovery.

BIOTECanada looks forward to working with KoreaBIO to turn this agreement into meaningful opportunities for members in both countries.
