BIOTECanada welcomes the federal government’s new Cabinet Directive onRegulatory Competitiveness and Red Tape Reduction

Regulatory modernization has been a consistent focus of BIOTECanada’s advocacy,
including in our federal budget recommendations. The directive’s emphasis on reducing
unnecessary burden and improving regulatory alignment is consistent with our call for a
more predictable and efficient regulatory system.

Around the world, countries are racing to reshape their economies and attract the
investment needed to compete in a new global reality. Rapid implementation will be key
to keeping pace. We look forward to working with the federal government to translate
this directive into timely, concrete improvements that strengthen Canada’s
competitiveness and support timely access to biotechnology innovation for Canadian
patients.
